Wednesday 22 February – Hosted at The Couch – the City of Melbourne’s International Student Centre, ACBC Vic, together with the City of Meblourne were delighted to host close to 300 international students for a gala networking evening in the city.
Students were greeted with a warm welcome from MC’s Kristy Huimin Feng and Brian Su, and heard from ACBC Vic & Tas CEO, Virginia Birrell; Deputy-Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Nicholas Reece and Chairman of Guangdong Qingyuan Sheng Xing Group, Mr Jian Chen.
Guests were entertained with live singing from Ray Ni, a Pipa performance by Jessica Lee and participated in exciting prize draws with gift vouchers to a wide range of Melbourne’s best restaurants, kindly organised by the Melbourne City North Business Association.
Event sponsors NASRA presented a poignant speech on the benefits of an international education and students had the opportunity to engage with business professionals from the ACBC Victoria community and government networks.
Finishing the night with food and friends, this event builds on the next generation of future leaders in Australia and re-ignites the city’s enthusiasm for our international students who play such an important part in the vibrancy of Melbourne.
ACBC Victoria looks forward to supporting the work of the City of Melbourne and our member institutions as international students and business visitors return. We hope students will participate in our Future Leaders Forum as a career and network incubation group for emerging leaders in the Australia-China business space.
In his remarks, speaker Mr Chen told students “It is a brave person with an enquiring mind who wants to experience studying in a different culture”. We wish all international students studying in Melbourne the warmest of welcomes and look forward to seeing you around the city and at our events.
