On Friday 29 September ACBC WA and CCCA Perth Branch held China National Day & Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations at Government House in Western Australia.
200 attendees from business, government, academic and cultural institutions joined the event in the historic Government House ballroom to celebrate the WA-China relationship on China’s national day, which this year happened to fall on the Mid-Autumn Festival. Owing to the occasion, a giant 2.5kg mooncake occupied a special space on stage next to the lectern, which was shared amongst guests following formalities.
The evening was emceed by Presidents of both organisations, James Clarke (ACBC WA) and David Sun (CCCA Perth Branch) with speakers including: Deputy Premier of Western Australia, the Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, Acting Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Perth, Wang Fengzhong, Lord Mayor of Perth, the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, China Construction Bank Perth Branch, General Manager WA & NT, Gene Lilly, and Fortescue Acting CFO, Apple Paget.
