Tues 6 December 2022 – ACBC Victoria hosted an in-person roundtable meeting involving members across a wide variety of sectors with Australia’s Consul-General to Chengdu, Adelle Neary, while in Melbourne for mid-term briefings.
During the candid conversation moderated by ACBC Victoria CEO, Virginia Birrell and DFAT Victoria State Director, Andrew Cumpston, Adelle shared her experience in Chengdu over the past two eventful years.
Addressing the real impacts of COVID restrictions, diplomatic difficulties, and the economic situation in South West China, Adelle painted a realistic and comprehensive picture of the region.
We are pleased that a high-level group of ACBC members from the education, trade, tourism and energy sectors were able to connect with Adelle and we hope these connections lead to positive outcomes as China looks set to reduce restrictions and travel once again returns.
ACBC Victoria thanks the Consul-General for taking the time to meet members and share advice and candid insights on this important and growing part of China.
