On Friday 18 April, ACBC Victoria had the pleasure of working with ACBC Victoria member company, United Media Solution (UMS), to welcome delegates from Ningbo.
Deputy Director of the Ningbo Bureau of Commerce, YU Jin, opened with a colourful introduction of Ningbo, highlighting their strength as a port city. Boasting the title of busiest port in the world, it was recorded that the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan handled over 35 million TEU containers in 2023. Ningbo also has great strength in technology and chemical production, making them a key player in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
After a warm round of introductions, Associate Director of Insights, Guy Thompson, gave a comprehensive outline of the opportunities available in trade & services and the education market, touching lightly on trends in tourism. He emphasised how crucial it was for us to continue catering to students, tourists and businesses from China to maintain a strong relationship, linking this to the numerous case studies conducted by UMS.
The event concluded with a networking opportunity, where invitations to visit Ningbo for both business and leisure were extended. Through this meeting, Ningbo has become a focal point for various business opportunities, leveraging its strength as a port for trade and its advancements in technology and chemical manufacturing.
ACBC Victoria warmly thanks Guy Thompson, Eric Yu and Tanya Cai of UMS for their support and active role in the bilateral education space.
