On September 12, 2023, ACBC Victoria had the privilege of hosting an executive China Update event featuring Dezan Shira & Associates’ Ines Liu, who had travelled from Beijing to join us.
Ines Liu leads the International Business Advisory team in China and oversaw the firm’s FDI Desk (Australia) in Asia. With her expertise, she assists clients in devising market entry strategies, establishing corporate structures, and navigating the intricate landscape of tax and legal considerations when investing in China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.
In a rapidly changing economic landscape, where China’s resilience during the recovery phase was remarkable, businesses are now grappling with a unique set of challenges, both domestically and on the global stage. The risk-adjusted return on investment in China had undergone significant transformation, characterized by structural economic slowdown, escalating policy, reputational, and geopolitical risks.
In response to this evolving environment, numerous companies operating in China are reassessing their strategies and exploring available options to thrive. It is imperative for enterprises across all sectors to proactively plan, gain greater operational control, reshape market strategies, and cultivate adaptable and resilient corporate structures.
Ines Liu provided comprehensive insights and guidance, addressing macro-environmental factors affecting businesses in China, conducting operational reviews, and discussing common restructuring options. This event delivered valuable information to businesses operating in or considering investments in China, equipping them with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate the complexities of that dynamic market.
ACBC would like to extend a special thanks to Ines Liu for sharing her expertise and knowledge with us. We trust that this Executive China Update inspired meaningful discussions and created new networks.
