Through the Unclear Crystal Ball: The 2021 Journey Ahead with China Lunch Event

12 Nov 2020

2020 has presented us with unprecedented challenges and as we’ve experienced global turbulence caused by COVID-19 and geopolitical tensions, it’s easy to be despondent about doing business in and with China in 2021. As the year draws to a close, ACBC QLD, in partnership with Holding Redlich, cordially invites members and friends to join our guest speakers for an interactive discussion over a light lunch, as we explore key lessons and takeaways from 2020, as well as green shoots of optimism and opportunities that may await us in the new year.

We will be joined by guest speaker Dr Carl Hinze, Partner in Holding Redlich’s Corporate & Commercial Group and the National Head of Holding Redlich’s China Practice, who will discuss the road ahead in terms of our engagement with China, what we can expect from the recently announced 14th Five-Year Plan for 2021 to 2025, and sentiments following the US election and the Chinese International Import Expo (CIIE). We would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr Carl Hinze as a new member of the ACBC QLD Executive Committee and greatly appreciate the contribution of his expertise, experience and insights. We will also be joined by key representatives of ACBC QLD and Austrade on the ground in China, through a live feed, to share their own insights and projections.

Key Discussion Points Include:

  • What will be the impact of China’s “Made in China 2025” plan?
  • What is the significance of “China Standards 2035”?
  • What about China’s plan to be carbon neutral by 2060?
  • Post-CIIE and US election sentiment
  • What does all of this mean for Australia’s businesses and regulators?

Please note; ACBC QLD and partner venues adhere to the Queensland Government’s COVID Safe guidelines, including providing hand sanitiser, and regular cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces.
