Film Tourism and Opportunities for Australia

Join us for ACBC WA Media & Culture Committee Panel Discussion series: Film Tourism and Opportunities for Australia

Cultural and film tourism is all the hype lately.

Fans of the wildly popular Game of Thrones series are flocking to Croatia, Iceland, and other countries where the show has been filmed. Tourism New Zealand has successfully marketed New Zealand as the home of Middle-Earth for the past 20 years leveraging the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogy. Xu Zheng’s 2012 hit movie Lost in Thailand spurred a Chinese tourist boom in the land of smiles.

With China on the ascent in having the world’s most enthusiastic travelers, the panel discussion brings together experts from both China and Australia to explore the connections and interplays between cinema and tourism and how movies can help develop a stronger brand for our State and Country that reinforces our reputation as a great place to visit. The discussion will further explore the impact of cultural tourism strategies including film festivals and film premieres.

Australia has all the right ingredients in place to emerge as a major player. Chaired by ACBC WA Media & Culture Committee Chair Camille Chen, this webinar will leave you with an understanding of how Chinese people engage with arts, culture and entertainment, and how Australian businesses can successfully leverage this unmissable opportunity.
