Every year Queensland welcomes successful business investors who wish to invest and live in Queensland, with many coming from China. Business migrants are a welcome part of Queensland’s economic success story and are playing an important role in the state’s recovery from COVID-19.

Migration Queensland (MQ) is the Queensland government agency responsible for visa nomination. MQ has a long-standing agreement with the Commonwealth government to nominate the best-and-the brightest business and skilled migrants to migrate to Queensland. MQ also assists migrants with integrating into the business community within Queensland.

ACBC QLD and Migration Queensland are pleased to invite Chinese business migrants, members and friends to join us as we hear from a range of experts who will provide the latest information across government, financial, legal, taxation and business advisory sectors to assist business migrants successfully settle in Queensland.

A Chinese business migrant who migrated through the Queensland state nomination program will also be discussing their journey to success.

The event will close with light refreshments and time for networking.

Greg McKean

Manager, Migration Queensland Trade and Investment Queensland

Greg McKean is the Manager of Migration Queensland, which is the state nominating body for the Queensland Government. Migration Queensland works with the Australian Department of Home Affairs to attract eligible skilled and business migrants through the various state-nominated visa programs. Greg came into the role in 2015 and has seen the popularity of the State of Queensland grow significantly as a migration and investment destination across Asia, South Africa and the Middle East. Prior to taking up the Migration Queensland role, Greg has worked in various policy and program roles related to trade and investment, for both the State and Commonwealth Governments.

Matthew MacDonald

Investment Adviser, Morgans Financial Ltd

Matthew has been a private client advisor for Morgans, Australia's largest retail stockbroking and wealth management firm, for the past 8 years. In his role, he works closely with high-net-worth individuals both in Australia and overseas. A significant portion of Matthew's business is servicing Chinese clients, based in both Australia and China. Matthew is Chairperson of the ACBC Financial Services Industry Working Group, and he is fluent in Mandarin. Prior to working for Morgans, Matthew worked in different parts of China (Shenzhen, Shanghai, Wuxi) for 8 years as a Project Manager for two U.S. multi-nationals in the electronics and photonics industries.

Jettie Fan

Investment Advisor, Morgans Financial Ltd

Jettie is a Chartered Accountant & SMSF Specialist Advisor. She came to Australia alone to pursue her tertiary study in 2003. She started her career as an accountant in public practice. She then joined Morgans in 2009 and worked in different areas of the business. As a first-generation migrant herself, she has a lot in common with her clients who migrated from various countries. She provides her clients with a wide range of professional investment services, including stockbroking, superannuation, and financial planning. Her investment style carefully considers her clients' risk profiles and their unique circumstances. She is fluent in Mandarin.

Carl Hinze

Partner, Holding Redlich

Dr Carl Hinze is a Partner in Holding Redlich’s Corporate & Commercial Group and is the national head of Holding Redlich’s China Practice. Before joining the firm, Carl worked for over 10 years in mainland China and Hong Kong in the fields of investment banking and law. Carl’s practice focuses on complex cross-border corporate transactions and commercial matters. Carl is a trusted advisor in managing contract risk, executing mergers and acquisitions, and implementing joint ventures (both incorporated and unincorporated) and complex alliance arrangements. He has strong skills in transaction structuring, project management and coordination. Carl has a particular a focus on the infrastructure, education, agriculture, financial services, manufacturing and resources sectors. Carl is fluent in Mandarin and is a recognized expert in Chinese business culture.

Bert Wu

Bert is a director in KPMG Brisbane’s Brisbane Office. He has been with KPMG for over 22 years providing professional services to international investors and business migrants. He is a member of the Chartered Accountant Australia & New Zealand and the Registered Migration Agent (MARN 0531862).

Dylan Hao

Managing Director, Top Finance Pty Ltd;

Dylan is an experienced lending manager in Top Finance who is specialized in different scenarios of residential home loan. As an Australian Credit Licence holder, he aggregates more than 40 banks and non-bank lenders on the panel and provides the widest home loan products to meet the various requirements and objectives from different clients. He incorporated a wide range of financial knowledge in industry practice to provide a better home loan service and dedicated to act in the client’s best interests.

Ken Rong, Li-shan Huang

Ken Rong arrived in Australia in 1998. He graduated from University of Queensland in 2003 and joined Queensland Police in 2008.
