Event Speakers

Gobind Kalsi

Executive Director, Reform Strategy and Delivery Office, Department of Resources

Gobind (Gobes) Kalsi was appointed as the Executive Director, Reform Strategy and Delivery Office in April 2024. Gobes joined the Queensland Government in 2022 with a background in environment and planning approvals in the energy, resource, infrastructure and renewable projects, he’s also advised on the changing legal and regulatory landscape relating to climate change and human rights issues. Gobes’ is a passionate, goal driven change leader and his previous experience in the public and private sectors has given him insight into major project and reform agendas from a variety of perspectives – including key stakeholders in the resources and lands space. In 2022 he was recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ in Planning and Environmental Law in Queensland. Gobes holds a degree in Law (Honours) and International Relations and Political Science from the University of Queensland.

Chanjie Qin

Head of Project Finance Team, Corporate & Institutional Banking, China Construction Bank Australia

Chanjie leads CCB Australia’s project finance team and has been a key leader in the development of the bank’s renewable energy financing and green loan businesses in Australia. She has a background in global investment banking and specialises in project finance. Chanjie has advised on and led the financing of numerous large scale cross-border transactions in the energy sector around the world and in Asia pacific, including some of the most important Chinese sponsored renewable energy investments in Australia.

Brendan Herriott

Director, Sustainable Finance, Commonwealth Bank

CBA aims to play a leading role in supporting their clients to navigate the transition to a decarbonised, sustainable and resilient economy. Brendan works with corporate clients to share sustainability insights and developments and to access sustainable finance structures that support their sustainability strategies. Dr. Christoph NEDOPIL WANG

Director, Griffith Asia Institute | Griffith University

Dr. Christoph NEDOPIL WANG is the Director of the Griffith Asia Institute and a Professor at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. He worked with the World Bank in over 15 countries and served as Founding Director of the Green Finance & Development Center and Associate Professor at the Fanhai International School of Finance (FISF), Fudan University, Shanghai.

John Zhong

Country Manager, Trina Solar

John has over 14 years’ experience in the energy and resource industry with 2 years with Trinasolar ISBU. John holds a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Adelaide. Prior to joining Trina, he worked as Vice General Manager in Risen Energy Australia. John has also worked as a Senior Power Consultant for GHD, and respectively as a Power Consultant and Project Manager for Worley Parsons and ExxonMobil. John has accumulated rich experience in managing and delivering projects in a variety of engineering industries including concept and feasibility study, detailed design, (de)commissioning, project management and business development. Key areas of involvement include in the 2.5GW development in renewable with Trinasolar, 134MW Yarranlea Solar Farm and 132MW Merredin Solar Farm.
