Samuel Biggins MRICS

Director of Investment Services, Colliers International
Sam has more than a decade of experience in managing commercial real estate transactions for institutional and high net worth clients across the Asia-Pacific region and has participated in over $1b in transactions in the last 5 years. Sam’s role is to provide leadership to the Investment Services business across QLD. He offers guidance and leads the national initiatives in QLD, including their Office Middle Markets, Asia Markets and Restructuring Property Services teams. In 2016 he relocated to Colliers’ Brisbane office after 5 years with the firm in Singapore and Hong Kong, where he was responsible for Colliers ‘ANZ’ desk, working across their ANZ and Asian businesses, channelling Asian capital into the Australian and New Zealand real estate markets. Sam is an expert in negotiating cross-border transactions, having executed deals and mandates for clients in Australia, NZ, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Russia and Indonesia.

Dr Diaswati (Asti) Mardiasmo

Chief Economist, PRD Real Estate
Dr Mardiasmo monitors a wide variety of macro and microeconomic trends, both within and external to Australia, that directly and indirectly impact the Australian residential real estate (housing) market. She is a member of the Residential Committee 2021-2022 for the Property Council of Australia, a member of the Reserve Bank of Australia Liaison Program, and an industry partner within the Australian Federal Government Cooperative Research Centre for Longevity. Asti is the industry research supervisor for QUT Bachelor of Property Economics and has provided expert real estate commentary to various print, online, radio, and TV media. She is the chairperson for the Built To Rent World Virtual Summit 2021 and a keynote speaker for the Real Estate Institute in NSW Roadshow 2021. In her spare time, Asti serves as the secretary for the Queensland Multicultural Council.

Kristan Conlon BA/LLB (Hons)

Partner, McCullough Robertson
Kristan is a real estate lawyer with a corporate background who uses this combined experience to advise on the structuring, development, leasing, acquisition and disposal of all asset classes and tenures. Kristan leads multi-disciplinary teams to bring together the expertise across McCullough Robertson’s legal groups, managing a project seamlessly through to completion. This includes ensuring all planning and environment, and tax issues are discovered early and addressed when required. She is the relationship partner for many clients who appreciate her strong leadership and clear direction on all major property matters. Kristan’s clients range from large listed institutions, investment banks, developers, affordable housing providers, resource companies, local and state governments, private property owners and national and regional landlords and tenants.

Michael Choi OAM

Managing Director, AEC Australia Vice President, ACBC QLD and Chair of ACBC QLD Property & Construction Industry Working Group
Michael is a project manager, engineer and entrepreneur. He started his own consultancy firm in 1988 and it is now involved in property development, project and construction management. His projects include prestige residences, apartments, townhouses, hotels and shopping centres. He is interested in applying new technologies to the property industry. In 2001 he was elected as the first member of Queensland Parliament with Asian heritage and was in office for almost 12 years. In that time Michael was Assistant Minister with portfolios in Mines and Energy, Natural Resources, Trade and Multicultural Affairs. He is active in the Australia-China business community and one of his lifelong personal goals is to encourage better understanding and appreciation between the East and the West.

Zhi Lai

General Manager, R&F Property Australia
R&F Property Australia is part of R&F Properties, a global property development group that has interests in China, Australia, UK, Malaysia and Cambodia. After obtaining his Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Zhi saw his career path starting in the UK as a structural engineer prior to moving to Dubai to work in the commercial construction industry, managing a number of projects including University, Hospital, Airport, Hotel, Residential Hi-rise developments. In 2018, Zhi joined the R&F Group, providing construction supervision not only in China, also for all R&F oversea projects in UK, Malaysia, Cambodia and Australia. This saw Zhi overseeing more than 30 developments. In 2019, Zhi became the General Manager of R&F Property Australia. Mentoring the team with his experience in design and construction has seen R&F Property Australia invest over 1 billion dollars into the Australian Property market. Zhi has a strong commitment to R&F and believes that the exposure to the global supply of projects is one of the many benefits of being a part of the R&F Group.
