On Wednesday 5 February 2025, Optus Stadium and Perth’s iconic Matagarup Bridge were lit up in glowing red to warmly welcome guests to the Roy Hill Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by ACBC WA and CCCA (Perth Branch).
Nearly 400 guests from the WA-China business community celebrated the Year of the Snake together while watching the sunset over the Perth city skyline from Optus Stadium’s unique River View Room.
Addresses from The Deputy Premier Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, Chinese Consul-General in Perth Long Dingbin, ACBC WA President James Clarke and Honorary CCCA (Perth Branch) President David Sun highlighted the ongoing development of the WA-China relationship. Guests also heard engaging remarks from Naming Rights Partner, Roy Hill representative, Gerhard Veldsman (Chief Executive Officer, Operations at Hancock Prospecting) and Platinum Event Partner, Fortescue representative, Dino Otranto (Chief Executive Officer at Fortescue Metals).
Prominent media presenters Tina Altieri and Adrian Barich expertly led the evening’s formalities which included the exciting announcement of the 2025 ACBC WA Award winners (read more here), a dynamic welcome performance by the Chinese Lion Dancers, a spectacular Year of the Snake contortion display and stunning vocal performances.
