Australia China Business Council West Australian Branch (ACBC WA) is pleased to announce the recipient of the ACBC WA Honorary Awards Program for 2021, Lewis Lyu Yong Feng, a 30-year veteran of the oil and gas industry. Lewis is currently Deputy General Manager of Huaying Natural Gas Company Limited in China and formerly Managing Director of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Australia for eight years in Perth, Western Australia.

The Honorary Awards Program was established in 2016 as an initiative of the ACBC WA Executive Committee and has been established to recognise outstanding and sustained service to the organisation and the Western Australia-China relationship.

This prestigious program was created because exceptional individuals that contribute to the Western Australia and China trade, investment and cultural relationship deserve to be recognised.

Lewis Lyu Yong Feng is the recipient of the award for 2021 for outstanding and sustained service to the Western Australia–China Relationship.

This award was announced and presented by The Hon. Peter Tinley MLA Minister for Housing, Veteran Issues, Youth, Asian Engagement at the ACBC WA and Chinese Chamber of Commerce Australia (CCCA) Chinese New Year Gala held at Crown Perth in the Grand Ballroom on February 24, 2021.

Lewis, a mentor to many, has been at the forefront of China’s energy-mix policies and, in Australia, played a critical role in the growth of LNG through high profile transactions for CNOOC in his capacity as their Australian Managing Director including their investments in the North West Shelf and Curtis LNG operations.

“It is fitting that someone the calibre of Lewis receives this important recognition. He has made a sustained and meaningful contribution to the Australian and Western Australian relationship with China over many years. At this time in the bi-lateral relationship it is critical that we acknowledge and support leading individuals that have worked so hard to develop the relationship with our most valued partner” said James Clarke, President of ACBC WA.

“Lewis is a trusted and respected friend of the WA-China relationship, who continues to extend genuine friendship to all he meets. As a Chinese business leader, he and his family embraced the WA way of life through active community participation and was committed to impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives in his professional capacity including corporate contributions and advancing cultural understanding” James Clarke added.

Lewis was unable to travel to Perth for the Gala event and was represented by his wife, Mrs Kathy Hu, who received the Award from the Hon. Minister Peter Tinley.
