FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At its 29 January Board meeting the ACBC Board of Directors, led by its President, the Hon John Brumby formally granted three departing and influential directors life membership of the organisation in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the growth and positioning of the Council.
The Hon John Brumby said Paul Glasson, Maree Arnason and Frank Tudor had made significant and long-lasting contributions in a period of unprecedented growth in and strengthening of the Australia China relationship.
As an Australian who has lived in China for seventeen years, Paul Glasson’s contribution to the bilateral relationship has been outstanding and of great distinction through increased profile for the ACBC in China and the organization of the successful Australia China Economic and Trade Forums in China and Australia on the occasion of high level visits by Australian and Chinese leaders.
Maree Arnason served on the National Board of Directors for over six years, including three years as the Thought Leadership Committee Chair. Maree is recognised for her significant strategic and governance contributions in a period where the ACBC has expanded its influence and presence nationally and in China and her unparalleled leadership of a National Board committee. The Thought Leadership Committee leads a number of national and strategic initiatives including the annual Australia China Trade report which includes data on the benefit of trade with China per Australian household. This years' expanded report, with significant NAB sponsorship, will be launched in March.
As one of the longest serving Chairmen, Frank Tudor presided over profound change within the governance and activities of the ACBC that saw it establish a presence in China, and increased the Council's reach, relevance and output to advance the Australia-China business relationship.
The ACBC will host a formal award ceremony at its signature annual Canberra Networking Day event on Wednesday 25 March where Ministers, Shadow Ministers and business leaders will meet with the ACBC membership at Parliament House in Canberra.
