Call for Executive Committee Member Nominations
The Australia China Business Council is the peak body for Australia’s bilateral business, trade and investment relationship with China working with over 1000 member companies across its six branches around Australia.
The NSW Branch is supported by an active Executive Committee working with the Branch Chief Executive Officer. The NSW Branch seeks enthusiastic individuals with a passion for Australia’s engagement with China to sit on the Executive Committee and help shape the strategic direction and the strategic initiatives of the Branch.
Interested individuals from member companies are encouraged to nominate for the NSW Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will be announced at the NSW Branch Annual General Meeting on 14 October 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm.

What is the role of the Executive Committee? The Executive Committee works with the Branch President and the Chief Executive Officer to assist in:
· Shaping the strategic direction of the branch to support ACBC NSW members;
· Growing the ACBC NSW’s network and reach;
· Contributing to events and activities;
· Representing ACBC NSW at functions; and
· Leading and/or participating in sector-focused Sub-Committees.
What type of people does ACBC seek to have on its Executive Committee? ACBC NSW aims to maintain an Executive Committee of enthusiastic and dynamic individuals from across its membership base. Executive Committee members can come from companies of all sectors and sizes.
What is the time commitment? The Executive Committee meets once a month (the second Tuesday of the month unless otherwise stated) for approximately 1.5-2 hours from 5:30-7:00pm. The Executive Committee meetings provide Executive Committee members with an opportunity to oversee the Branch’s activities and contribute ideas on events or strategic initiatives the Branch can undertake. In addition to the Executive Committee meetings, Executive Committee members may be required to occasionally represent ACBC NSW at external functions and, on and ad hoc basis, and contribute ideas and feedback as required. Executive Committee members are also expected to participate in one of six sector-focused sub-committees.
What are the requirements/eligibility criteria for being an Executive Committee member? Individuals who would like to become Executive Committee members are required to be available at the aforementioned time for monthly meetings and must have a current membership with the Australia China Business Council.
After I apply to become an Executive Committee member, what is the process? The Executive Committee is limited to 22 members plus one ex-officio member from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Trade Commission respectively. Please use the link here to nominate for the Executive Committee. Nominees then select their 22 preferred candidates with votes being tallied to finalise the Executive Committee. Office bearer positions (President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Director) are then nominated from within the Executive Committee.
