Media Release: Australia China Business Council WA Honorary Awards 2018

01 March 2018

PERTH: The Australia China Business Council in Western Australia (ACBC WA) is pleased to announce the recipient of the ACBC WA Honorary Awards Program for 2018. The Honorary Awards Program was established in 2016 as an initiative of the ACBC WA Executive Committee and has been established to recognise outstanding and sustained service to the organisation and the Western Australia-China relationship.

This prestigious program was created because exceptional individuals that contribute to the Western Australia and China trade, investment and cultural relationship deserve to be recognised.

This year the recipient of the category award for outstanding and sustained service to Western Australia–China Relationship was Dr David Sun. This award was announced and presented by The Hon. Bill Johnston MLA Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Commerce and Industrial Relations; Electorials Affairs; Asia Engagement at the ACBC WA and Chinese Chamber of Commerce Australia (CCCA) Chinese New Year Gala held at Crown Perth in the Grand Ballroom on March 1, 2018.

The Awards Committee was very impressed with David's outstanding efforts supporting trade and investment between China and Australia; his roles in China and Australia with Sinosteel Corporation – and the historical and successful partnership that has delivered the now 30 year Channar JV with Rio Tinto – the Channar JV remains one of China’s largest overseas investments and also its first major overseas investment.
