Event Recap: ChAFTA Training Program - Warragul

13 September 2016

On September 13, ACBC Victoria held its initial ChAFTA Training Program workshop in Warragul. As part of a national project, partly funded by The Australian Government, The ChAFTA Training Program seeks to give businesses the practical tools necessary to take advantage of the reduced tariff barriers Australian exporters now enjoy across the China market.

The morning session of the workshop was led by The Export Council of Australia’s Collins Rex and featured an intimate and in-depth analysis of the steps firms need to follow to access reduced tariffs on their goods. A course handbook was supplied to each attendee and training items included: How to classify your goods for China customs and the certifying goods using Certificates of Origins.

In the afternoon session, Efic’s Rael Chessel explained how firms can access export financing while ICAL’s Mark Coleman explained the ins and outs of freight forwarding and getting your goods to China. CVEN’s Rofer Yu outlined the steps required for establishing a sound export strategy before a Q&A panel session rounded off an informative and stimulating session.

ACBC Victoria now looks forward to holding the workshop in Bendigo on November 18. For further information please contact James Scullin at james.scullin@acbc.com.au
