Event Recap: Growing Business Opportunities with China through Tourism and Education

The ACBC Queensland in partnership with Study Gold Coast held a special event at the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach on Wed 28th September 2016.  The event aimed to raise awareness of the importance of China to our economic prosperity and increase awareness of the flow-on economic benefits of the tourism and education industries.

The Hon Kate Jones MP, Minister for Education and Minister for Tourism and Major Events delivered the Opening Address. Guests also heard from the Hon Rob Borbidge, Chairman of Study Gold Coast.
 
The Hon John Brumby, President of the Australia China Business Council delivered the Keynote Address (speech here) and moderated the Panel Discussion session which was also joined by Professor Terry O’Neill - Executive Dean, Bond Business School, Mr XU Weimin, Managing Director Wanda Ridong Gold Coast, Mr Louis Chien - Director, ASF Group and Director, ASF Consortium  and Mr Martin Winter, Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation.  The Panel discussed strategies to harness the full potential of Chinese tourism and education linkages to increase economic ties with China. The event was attended by over 225 education, tourism and business representatives.
 
The event was over-subscribed and demonstrated the strong interest in China and the importance of the tourism and education sectors in the Australia-China relationship.
