Australia Gets Ready for Increasing Chinese Tourism Boom

19 August 2016

Last year over 1 million Chinese tourists visited Australia, and projections suggest that the annual growth rate of Chinese visitors to Australia will continue to increase by 19% per year.

But are we ready to receive 2 million Chinese visitors by 2025? Do we have sufficient infrastructure, language capabilities, accommodation, tourist and hospitality services? Are we ready to capitalise on the opportunities for Australian goods and services in various sectors such as education, investment and goods export?

Yesterday, Melbourne was announced as the Most Liveable City for the sixth year in a row, and the City of Melbourne is gearing up for increased Chinese visitors by launching a Check-in to China Program which assists the Melbourne visitor industry to prepare for Chinese visitors. Xiamen Air which operates direct flights between China and Australia is the airline partner for Check-In to China.
