Keynote Address by

The Hon John Brumby - National President, Australia China Business Council


Professor Terry O’Neill - Executive Dean, Bond Business School
Prof O’Neill established the first accredited Actuarial Science program in Queensland at Bond University along with the Centre for Actuarial and Financial Big Data Analytics in the Bond Business School. He is the former Director of the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies and Applied Statistics at the Australian National University. He held senior academic positions at ANU for over 35 years. He holds the honorary awards of Fellow of the American Statistical Association, Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute. He was a Phd graduate and a Fulbright Fellow of Stanford University. 

Mr XU Weimin, Managing Director Wanda Ridong Gold Coast
Dalian Wanda Group is the world's largest commercial real estate enterprise and largest five star hotel owner. It is currently engaged in three key business activities – commercial properties, culture, and finance. The $1 billion Wanda Ridong Jewel development, on the beachfront at Surfers Paradise, will be a three-tower development comprising a three-level podium, a five-star hotel with 169 suites and 512 luxury apartments. The development will include resort-style swimming pools, private bars, casual and fine-dining restaurants, and parking for 816 cars.  The Project will transform the Gold Coast and strengthen Queensland China relations. The landmark Jewel project will open in 2018.  

Mr Louis Chien - Director, ASF Group and Director, ASF Consortium
Director, Rey Resources and Director, Metaliko Resources
Born in Shanghai, Louis grew up, was educated and worked in the United States, and is now based in Sydney. Louis is a Business Leader, Strategist, Entrepreneur and Investor.  With ASF Group, Louis is responsible for directing investment development, financial, and operational activities. ASF Group is a listed company (ASX: AFA) which identifies opportunities in Australia and co-invests with select partners from China to finance and develop projects to deliver long-term success.  Louis has extensive experience across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.  He has over 20 years of Fortune 100 experience mostly based in the USA and recently Singapore. Louis held various leadership positions within the Procter & Gamble Company and has successfully driven the growth of two consumer brands to over half-billion dollars each, developed venture deals, integrated a multi-million dollar acquisition, and co-founded real estate investment entities. Louis holds an MBA (Indiana University), a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Design.  

Mr Martin Winter, Chief Executive Officer, Gold Coast Tourism Corporation (GCTC)
Martin’s career in the tourism industry has spanned more than 40 years. He has held senior executive and industry leadership positions in Europe, South America and Australia.  For the past 8 years he has been CEO of GCTC, Australia’s largest private-sector tourism destination marketing company, and until recently was Chairman of the International Conference and Congress Association Asia/Pacific chapter. He was CEO of the Adelaide Convention & Tourism Authority, and before this, International Vice President (Marketing) with the Paris - based Le Cordon Blue. Martin was a Professor at Universidade de Brasilia, President of the Australian Association of Convention Bureaus, Chairman of the Regional Tourism Boards of both South Australia and Queensland, and was the inaugural Chairman of Conventions Australia. He holds a Master’s Degree in Management, was Southern Cross University Alumnus of the Year in 2011 and was one of three global leaders inducted into the IMEX Academy in Frankfurt in 2014.
