ACBC NSW is pleased to invite you to our lunch event with Mr David Dukes, Trade Commissioner from Austrade Beijing, discussing diversification as the path for Australian growth in the China Education Market.
China is Australia’s largest education market across the higher education, ELICOS and schools sectors of Australian international education. This presentation will analyse the trends and opportunities for growth in both onshore recruitment and in country delivery including opportunities for diversification. David will talk about initial thinking on how the new market development plan Australian International Education 2025 (AIE 2025) could be applied in China, including possible strategies to achieve the global goals of doubling the number of students onshore by 2025 and achieve a target of 10 million learners through borderless skills education and services by 2025. The presentation will also include an outline of Austrade’s planned activities for 2015-2016 and a diversification strategy discussion, including themes like branding, social media and the role of Australian regional education.
Mr David Dukes took up the role of Trade Commissioner (Commercial Counsellor) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing in March 2009. Mr Dukes led Austrade’s Clean Tech Team in China from 2009-2011, until taking on management of Austrade’s Food, Beverages, Agribusiness, Consumer and Health Team from 2011-2012. In 2012-2013 Mr Dukes was manager of Austrade’s new West China Team. Subsequently he was project director of Australia Week in China 2014, Austrade’s largest overseas mission, with 117 events over four days in five cities. From 2014-2015 he was post manager of Austrade Beijing, with responsibility for North China, and managed the Austrade China Marketing Team. He is currently Austrade’s North Asia Education Commissioner, with responsibility for Greater China, Korea and Mongolia, and continues as leader of Austrade China’s Marketing Team.
