ACBC Victoria is pleased to invite you our forum on the Victorian Education Sector with keynote speaker The Hon Steve Herbert MP, Minister for International Education. Chaired by Professor On Kit Tam, RMIT and Board Member of ACBC Vic, with panellists:
  • Professor Gabriele Suder, Director of International Relations, University of Melbourne
  • Mr Norman Gray AM, CEO Box Hill Institute
  • Ms Rebecca Hall, Director International Education, Department of Economic  Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources Victorian Government
  • Mr Rowen Lewis, Deputy Principal/Director of Projects, Caulfield Grammar School
Each year, around 300 000 international students commence study in Australia, the majority of which are enrolled in higher education. This $15 billion industry is Australia’s fourth largest export, and is Victoria’s largest. Specifically, China is the largest contributor country of international students to Australia. China’s rising middle class combined with Australia’s proximity to the growing Chinese market has meant that Victoria has been well-placed to take advantage of their growing demand for international education. Victoria has therefore exhibited a strong performance in the delivery of international services to China, with student enrolments rising in recent years. This forum will discuss the variables of how our state can maintain this into the future

Following the panel discussion and Q&A, a formal lunch will be served and there will be a presentation by the keynote speaker. At the conclusion of the function there will be networking opportunities.
