Mr Graeme Meehan has been recently announced as Australia’s Consul-General designate to Shanghai. Before commencing his Post, Mr Meehan will be conducting a series of consultations with key stakeholders in order to further gauge the opportunities and challenges that Australian businesses face when doing business in Shanghai and eastern China.
ACBC and Finsia members are invited to an exclusive afternoon tea with Mr Meehan. This event is an opportunity to engage with Australia’s newly appointed Consul-General to Shanghai as well as highlight areas for focus and cooperation. Spaces are limited to 18 guests and restricted to members only.

Mr Meehan is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is currently Assistant Secretary of the East Asia Branch, a position he has held since January 2013.
Mr Meehan has had extensive experience working on China issues, both in Canberra and overseas. He has served twice at the Australian Embassy in Beijing, most recently as Deputy Head of Mission (2008-2012), and twice at the Australian Office in Taipei. His Canberra assignments have included working as deputy head of the China FTA Task Force (2005-2008) and as Senior Adviser (Asia) in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (2005).
Mr Meehan speaks Chinese. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from Melbourne University and has undertaken postgraduate studies at Fudan University in Shanghai and at the Australian National University.
Mr Meehan is expected to take up the appointment in June 2015.
