Australia’s Consul General to Chengdu, Nancy Gordon, and Austrade Trade Commissioner, Jeff Turner, will share their views on opportunities for Australian businesses in Southwest China.
The Consulate-General in Chengdu covers the areas of Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guizhou and Austrade covers the areas of Shaanxi and Hubei.Australia opened its Consulate-General in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, in mid 2013 to boost Australia’s trade and economic relations with the rapidly growing Southwest.
Australian firms are forging complex trade and investment ties with Southwest China. Australian companies in the minerals and energy sector, biotechnology, green building and clean technology machinery, financial services, architectural design, automotive parts and components all have established a presence in Southwest China. Agribusiness, inward investment, aged care and financial services represent new opportunities for Australian firms under the recently concluded China-Australia FTA (ChAFTA).
