‘Investment Environment in Zhuhai’ By a Delegation from the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone, China
13 June 2007
Level 1, Sidney Myer Asia Centre, The University of Melbourne, Swanston Street, Carlton
Zhuhai, one of the earliest Special Economic Zones in China, is located in the Pearl River Delta, one of the two most dynamic economic areas in China. It is at the intersection of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Guangzhou Railway, China Coastal Expressway and Jingzhu Expressway. Adjacent to Macau and only 36 nautical miles from Hong Kong, Zhuhai has traditional business relations with Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast China.
The government officials' interests are primarily with bio-pharmaceuticals whilst the others, business people, are more broadly based on an industry sector basis and interested primarily in export and import opportunities. They will give us an outline of the economic situation in Zhuhai and the opportunities Zhuhai offers for Australian businesses.
