Ted Plafker is The Economist’s Chief Correspondent in Beijing. He has lived in China for 20 years and is recognized internationally as an expert commentator on key economic, business and political issues in contemporary China. He was the President of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of China in 2000–2003.
Mr Plafker is a regular contributor to a number of authoritative publications, including the Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune and the San Francisco Chronicle. He is also the author of the widely acclaimed recently released book ‘Doing Business in China’, which outlines how individuals and companies can succeed in the challenging and often confusing Chinese environment.
Ted’s address at the Breakfast will identify the top emerging sectors in China; present a guide to the complicated legal landscape; highlight the cultural differences in doing business; and discuss the sales and marketing techniques required to attract Chinese consumers.
This is Ted Plafker’s first visit to Australia in five years. The Breakfast provides a great opportunity to hear at first hand his expert views on a range of issues of vital importance for success in doing business in China.
