There is no better time to hear from our Ambassador to China, Dr Geoff Raby: After a change of government in Australia, at the start of a new year, with seemingly far reaching change in the financial world globally and exponential development across China, and topped off with the Olympics in August. Our Ambassador is eminently qualified to address these issues. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to China, as Deputy Secretary since November 2002, Dr Raby has been lead negotiator on WTO matters, China FTA Taskforce and bilateral relations with North Asia. Previous positions include APEC Ambassador, First Assistant Secretary International Organizations and Legal Division, and First Assistant Secretary Trade Negotiations Division. Dr Raby has served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization, Geneva and on two occasions in Beijing as Counsellor ( Economic) and First Secretary ( Economic). He has also worked in the OECD Secretariat in Paris.Dr Raby has BEc ( Hons), MEc and PhD degrees.
