29 March 2011

Latrobe Ballroom, Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, 25 Collins Street, Melbourne

Asialink and Asia Society AustraAsia Centre in collaboration with the Australia China Business Council are honoured to host a business luncheon with HE Dr Geoff Raby, Ambassador to the Peopleʼs Republic of China.

After thirty years of frenzied investment-led expansion, Chinaʼs next Five Year Plan highlights for the first time a reduction in economic growth targets and a greater emphasis on sustainable growth. Dr Rabyʼs address at lunch will explore the implications of the Five Year Plan for Australiaʼs own economic growth.

Dr Geoff Raby has served as Australiaʼs Ambassador to China since February 2007. Prior to his appointment, Dr Raby was a Deputy Secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and his responsibilities included lead negotiator on WTO matters, China FTA Taskforce and bilateral relations with North Asia. He has also been APEC Ambassador and served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WTO, Geneva.
