About the Speakers:
Nathan Backhouse, Regional Director, Western Australian Trade and Investment Office, China
Nathan was appointed in 2012 as Western Australia’s Regional Director, China at the Western Australian Trade
Office in Shanghai. Mr Backhouse was formerly Director, International Trade and Investment at the Department of State Development, and has previously served in China with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Ms Bonnie Shek, Director, Australia/New Zealand, Hong Kong Trade Development Council
Currently Director, Australia/New Zealand, of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
Ms Shek has extensive marketing, business development and management experience in Asia/Pacific. Having grown up in Hong Kong, then living in Australia for the last 24 years, Ms Shek understands the business dynamics in both places. Based in Sydney, she leads the team to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in doing business in Hong Kong/China and further enhance the good trading relationship between Hong Kong and the Australasian region. Ms Shek also speaks at seminars and workshops educating businesses on how they can use Hong Kong as a gateway to China and the rest of Asia.
