Melbourne: Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme Act 2018 Briefing

04 March 2019

MinterEllison, Level 23, Rialto Towers, 525 Collins Street, Melbourne 3000

ACBC Victoria, in association with MinterEllison, is pleased to offer an important briefing on the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme Act 2018 and its implications for business people engaged in activities in and with China.

With the commencement of the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme Act 2018 (FITS), persons acting on behalf of foreign principals are required to register arrangements that can influence government decision-making and political processes.  A broad set of rules apply to address the issue of foreign influence in Australia, through the requirement to register and make transparent certain arrangements. There are severe penalties for non-compliance with FITS and we encourage all our members to attend this important briefing session, which will include an opportunity to have your questions answered. You are also invited to stay for networking over a light lunch.

Attend this briefing session to hear about the FITS, including issues such as:

  • Who is a foreign principal?
  • What kinds of activities will be caught?
  • When will I need to register activities done by my business?
