Melbourne: State of the Nation: China - Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area

22 November 2018

International Chamber House, Level 5, 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne 3000

ACBC Victoria is delighted to invite you to our event 'State of the Nation: China - Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area', held in partnership with Asialink Business

The Greater Bay Area (GBA) initiative is a national plan supported by President Xi Jinping with the aim of developing the region’s economic integration. With local government and corporations’ support in financial infrastructure, policies and regulations, this initiative has opened up opportunities to stimulate career progression and business activities.

With more accessible markets, greater commercial synergies and a huge flow of talent, the innovation and e-commerce sectors within the region are actively reshaping the global economy. However, several challenges have arisen alongside the rise of the GBA and its e-commerce industry, such as taxation, subsidised housing, intellectual property and access to legal advice.  These and other topics will be covered by our expert speakers:

  • Andrew Whitford, Chair of AustCham Hong Kong’s Greater Bay Area Committee
  • Danny Armstrong, Managing Partner, ShineWing
  • Drew Waters, Head of Partnerships and Development, Asialink Business
  • Louis Chiam, Partner, King & Wood Mallesons
  • Michele Clemens, Chief Operating Officer, Wiise
  • Panel discussion moderated by Nicholas Henderson, Director, China Practice, Asialink Business

Our panellists will explore how the GBA initiative can be an outstanding support to your business within the region and how to strategically respond to the opportunities and challenges arising from the fast-growing e-commerce sector.
