Brisbane: Welcome Dinner Air China Direct Flight Beijing to Brisbane

Australia China Business Council Queensland and Brisbane Airport Corporation invite you to welcome Air China to the Brisbane business community and celebrate their direct flights between Brisbane and Beijing. This long-anticipated route will link Queensland to the highest levels of government and business in China. This event will provide rare access to the latest China market developments and what they mean for Australian businesses. We will be privileged to hear from high profile speakers including The Honourable Kate Jones MP Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development; Mr Mark Tanner, Founder of China Skinny; Mr Rui Jie, the General Manager of Air China in Australia and Consul Jiang, Chief of the Economic and Commercial Office, Consulate General of PRC in Brisbane.

PANELISTS
Honourable Kate Jones MP - Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development, Minister for the Commonwealth Games
Kate Jones is the Minister for Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games in the Queensland Government. She is committed to growing Queensland’s tourism industry and driving investment in hotels and tourist attractions to create jobs and boost local economies. Kate served as Minister for Education during the first term of the Palaszczuk Government. She also served as Minister for Environment and Natural Resources in the Bligh Government. Kate was elected to the seat of Ashgrove in 2015, having previously held the seat between 2006 and 2012. Kate worked as an advisor in the Beattie Government before entering parliament. She attended Kelvin Grove State High School and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Journalism at the Queensland University of Technology and a Masters in Environmental Law at Australian National University. 

Mark Tanner – Founder, China Skinny
Mark Tanner is the founder and managing director of Shanghai-based China Skinny. He has provided China market growth strategies and research to over 150 brands across 22 categories including Ikea, IHG, Colgate, Reckitt Benckiser and Tourism Malaysia. His views on Chinese consumers have been quoted by more than 200 international media outlets and he regularly provides commentary in publications such as Bloomberg, Reuters, FT and Forbes where he is a columnist. Mark was selected by Alibaba to anchor their promotional video introducing Single’s Day in 2016. He authors the most read newsletter about marketing to China and is a regular keynote speaker in both China and internationally from Shanghai to Sydney, Barcelona to Beijing, Helsinki to Hong Kong and many places in between.  Prior to moving to China Mark led the world's first unbroken paddle down the River Nile, hunted for Viking treasure in Iceland and cycled solo across Canada mid-winter.

Consul JIANG Jiqing - Chief of the Economic and Commercial Office, Consulate General of PRC in Brisbane
Consul Jiang has extensive experience in trade and bilateral co-operation and has facilitated multi-lateral negotiations with UN agencies. Consul Jiang has worked on several research and consulting assignments related to trade policy and legislation, is highly experienced in conducting and managing international workshops and seminars and has played key roles in developing China’s cooperation programs with donor countries. Consul Jiang was the Chief Coordinator in the comprehensive negotiations of the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the Chief Coordinator for the China-Japan-Korea FTA joint study, and a key member of the negotiations on the China-Japan-Korea and China-Korea Free Trade Agreements. Consul Jiang was also the Co-Chair of Economic Cooperation on the China-ASEAN FTA Committee for Trade Negotiation. 

Mr RUI Jie - General Manager, Air China Australia
Mr Rui has enjoyed a career with Air China spanning more than 25 years in various senior roles. He was the General Manager of Air China in Qingdao from 2004 until 2012 and has been the General Manager of Air China (Australia) based in Sydney since January 2013. Through his leadership in Air China Australia he has overseen the creation of several new routes including Auckland to Beijing, Sydney to Chengdu and Brisbane to Beijing. Air China is China's sole flag carrier, China's largest airline by brand value and is a market leader inair passenger transportation, air cargo and other aviation services.
