Mark Burgess - Managing Director, China, Place Design Group
China Managing Director for Place Design Group, Mark Burgess boasts over 30 years’ in the design industry.  As an accomplished designer, Mark not only supervises the executive workings of the business but also provides design expertise across a myriad of projects. Based in China for over ten years Mark has witnessed the expansion and acceleration of China’s urbanisation and has been one of Australia’s pioneers in contributing towards the transformation of the built environment. With a focus on collaboration across all design disciplines, Mark has been able to achieve exceptional project outcomes and now works with some of China’s largest developers to ensure a strategic and innovation approach across their project portfolios.
Sue Wang - International Design Director, Place Design Group
Recently appointed Design Director, Sue Wang is leading Place Design Group’s International Design Team.  Heading up the role in Brisbane, Sue will be working with international developers across Australia, as well as driving design outcomes across the organisation’s China teams.  Prior to moving to Australia, Sue was in an Associate role and oversaw the management of Place Design Group’s Shanghai office. With over 15 years’ experience spanning Residential Communities, Commercial and Tourism based projects, Sue’s proactive leadership approach has enabled her to develop exceptional client relationships and achieve award winning outcomes across China. Sue has worked on a number of high profile design projects including Seattle in Hangzhou, The One in Hefei, and Jinmao Palace (Yaojiang) in Ningbo.

Michael Walsh - General Manager, UAP
With over 25 years of construction industry experience, Michael brings a wealth of knowledge to UAP, achieving high standards in the design, management and construction of all projects. Also responsible for projects in South East Asia and the Middle East, Michael is actively involved in the delivery of all projects including Wahat Al Karama by Idris Kahn, the major monument of the new United Arab Emirates (UAE) Memorial Park, in Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining UAP, Michael’s extensive experience in the construction industry saw him manage successful projects across many sectors including resources, commercial, government, transport and healthcare. Michael has an Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction Management.
Michael Choi - Board Member, Belle Projects and Vice President, ACBC QLD
Michael has been a director of numerous private and public companies in Australia including AEC Australia, Belle Projects and the ASX listed Dongfang Modern Agriculture Holding Group. Michael was the first Asian-Australian to be elected into the Queensland Parliament and held office for almost 12 years. He was the Assistant Minister for a multitude of portfolios including Mines and Energy, Natural Resources, Trade and Multicultural Affairs. He is a qualified, Australian trained, professional Project Manager and Engineer with over 30 years of experience in development management, design and construction management. He has been an Honorary Ambassador for Brisbane for 30 years and was also appointed as an Honorary Ambassador for the City of Redland. He was also awarded Honorary Citizen of the City of Shenzhen in China, a sister city of Brisbane. Michael is actively developing business between Australia and China.
Dr Nicole Hartley, Associate Director of the UQ Business School MBA program
Dr. Hartley is an internationally recognised research academic in the field of consumer psychology, services marketing and digital technology. Her specific research interests include customer experience, service technology, customer-brand relationships, new media and service innovation. Nicole’s current research agenda focuses upon exploring customer perceptions in response to the advent of technology and various forms of disruption in the delivery of services. This research is currently focused within the education, tourism and health industries. Prior to her academic career, Nicole was employed as Marketing Manager/Director for various corporations within the tourism, education and communication industries both in Australia and in the UK.
