RMIT University Report Dissemination Seminar

Wednesday 30 November 2016

On behalf of ACBC (WA) and together with RMIT University, join us for the Regional Australia’s Engagement with China in the Asian Century: Innovation, Integration, and Impact Report Dissemination Seminar on Wednesday 30 November 2016.

Regional Australia is a major source of Australia’s economic growth and prosperity as it plays a significant role in shaping the nation’s economy, employment and exports. However, several challenges exist in capturing the full potential of regional Australia and what it can offer. The Australia China Council funded a project to identify and describe the innovative ways in which local governments and SMEs in regional Australia are engaging with China and how Chinese investors engage with local community for both business growth and community development.

This report provides many fresh insights into how regional Australia engages with Chinese opportunities, drawing on the results of a nation-wide survey of RDA committees, and the findings of seven case studies based on 52 interviews with key stakeholders in regional development.  A number of critical factors have been identified for successful China engagement by local government and SMEs, as well as for Chinese investors seeking to engage with regional Australia

Join us for an informed discussion with the authors of the report, Dr Charlie Huang and Professor Adela McMurray, from RMIT University.
