March Roundtable - New Models for Doing Business: the GHD experience in China

10 March 2011

12.15pm for 12.30pm - 2.00pm
Brisbane

China’s economy has experienced an annual growth of about 10% over last 30 years. Urbanisation in China will see more than 300 million people move to cities in the next 10 to 20 years. To improve the livelihood of Chinese people, China will continue its significant investment in property and buildings, water, transportation, power and environmental sectors. Faced with demand for energy and minerals that China’s domestic production is insufficient to meet, Chinese corporations have been encouraged to “go global” and invest overseas. Australia is one of the preferred investment destinations for many Chinese mining companies.

Dr Jin Zhang Zou, who has been instrumental in establishing and growing GHD’s business within China and with Chinese companies in Australia, will present on the planned investment in infrastructure sectors in China and projected investment by Chinese companies in Australia.
Dr Brett Goebel, who has been deeply involved in China operations, will discuss his in-person experience on how to bridge the difference in culture and business practice between Australia and China and how to manage multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to deliver major projects.
