ACBC takes Australian Leaders on China Study Tour with Technology and Innovation Focus

ACBC National CEO Helen Sawczak has recently returned from a China Study Tour this month with Australian Leaders supported by national sponsor Huawei.

ACBC has been committed to strengthening bilateral trade and investment between Australia and China since it was established in 1973, the year after diplomatic relations were established between our two countries. As part of this mission ACBC recently organised another China Study Tour for a delegation of Australian leaders to showcase China’s world leading technology and innovation in transport, infrastructure, environmental management, telecommunications, leisure and shopping. The tour was aimed to increase understanding of this dynamic market and to continue strengthening this important economic relationship.

This recent tour included visits to:

  • BYD Showroom, Electric Vehicle Display, Assembly Line & Test Labs, SkyRail;
  • Huawei HQ, R&D Campus, Wireless Manufacturing Centre;
  • Tencent HQ Showroom;
  • Alibaba & HeMa Fresh Store & HQ;
  • AustCham Shanghai Head Office;
  • Australian Embassy Beijing.

And meetings with:

  • Federal Trade Minister Simon Birmingham;
  • Australian Ambassador to China, Graham Fletcher;
  • Australian Consul General to Shanghai, Dominic Trindade;
  • Commissioner for Victoria to China, Tim Dillon;
  • Austrade China General Manager, Daniel Boyer;
  • ANZ Bank China CEO, Huang Xiaoguang;
  • Australian Consul General to Guangzhou, Jason Robertson;
  • Alibaba Managing Director NZ, Pier Smulders;

ACBC will also lead a China Study Tour in May 2020 in partnership with Austrade and the Business Council of Australia for Australian C-Suite Executives and Board Directors.
